O2C FILMS
'Brother Barney O.P.' - The Book now published: see www.o2cbooks.info AmazonUK or Amazon.com(US) The story now needs to be told on film! Look at the book and see what you think! We need investors, and the Brother Barney screenplay is good to great! Doubt this? You are entitled. Without a good script all that is produced is rubbish. It's axiomatic - and there's a lot of axiomatic stuff about, tiresome second rate features that would bore the skull off a gorilla! The problem is that the Big Studios tend to treat their customers - that's us - like gorillas, large monkeys with small brains. "Throw them a fast-peeling banana and a car chase with a few explosions, plus a good-looking dollybird and they'll be satisfied." That's their attitude - and the problem is that we begin to act like gorillas, come to think that we are the gorillas that the moguls believe us to be. We're not of course, as the moguls often realise, in the face of repeated box-office flops. It's amazing how gorillas get the word around. Financial profit is Big Studio motivation. It can't be anything other. They are caught in a money-making trap. Art for art's sake - Ars Gratia Artis - m'ars! So let's think! Where are great to good films generated? In the minds of creative individuals, who may work as part of a Big Studio team and occasionally manage to persuade money-minded top executives that a good story and script are more important than money thoughts. Such people work against the odds, as prescriptive ready-made plots of previous box-office successes are cycled and re-cycled. Think of these films: American Dream, Braveheart, Dances with Wolves, El Mariachi, The English Patient, Four Weddings & a Funeral, The Full Monty, Leaving Las Vegas, The Piano, Pulp Fiction, The Silence of the Lambs, Working Girls. They all started as independent feature productions, many of them adopted and promoted by the Big Studios when the quality was realised. Cost the Big Studios Big Bucks! So what about my little film? Best for investors to make up their own minds, by reading the script. But I am not going to hand over the complete screenplay to just anyone. Intellectual property theft is quite common, despite copyright precautions. So individuals with money, or access to reasonably large funding, must satisfy me that they are genuine, have the dosh or can access it! Dreadful to discriminate between rich and the poor, but the poor, such as me, must be practical. So, after you have browsed through other items on this website - including reading the synopsis - mosey over to script. I've kept it all as business-like as possible. |
